This newly created Safety Business Analyst role within the Customer Solutions Delivery (CSD) team will play a critical role in helping to develop a best in class safety culture at TELUS. By providing business analytics and partnering with the Program Manager and Stream Leads on project activities, you will help drive a safety culture transformation within our organization. This program will be measured by a number of industry indicators including lost time incidents, lost time technician hours, near miss and overall incident reduction. In close collaboration with CSD teams, the CSD Learning Solutions team, and Corporate Health & Safety, the successful applicant will provide Safety thought leadership and insight through the analysis of CSD’s Safety operational goals, overall Safety performance, and the governance and support to deliver a transformation Safety roadmap. In addition to delivering performance results and management insight, this position is responsible for evolving our Safety intelligence capabilities to continuously improve our position as Safety leaders in the industry.

Responsibilities:

You are an energetic and dynamic team member, with strong business analysis and communication skills, such that you are comfortable collaborating with team members of varying seniority from individual contributors through to Vice President.

You will work amongst a team of business and technical professionals to ensure success in the following:

  • Define, measure, and analyze the key performance indicators and Safety operational metrics of Customer Solutions Delivery, to deliver insight into strategic, operational, and financial performance

  • Optimize processes, costs, and service by (1) contributing thought-leadership on business execution and operations, (2) identifying drivers behind successes and challenges, and (3) delivering solutions from concept to execution in order to address root-cause issues and improve Safety performance

  • Develop, implement, and evolve our Safety performance analysis and reporting methodologies in partnership with various stakeholders, vendors, and other TELUS teams

  • Operational, Tactical, and Strategic Reporting

  • Support ongoing data requirements for CSD Leadership Team and critical stakeholders

  • Implement solutions that provide targeted, tactical information for CSD Leadership to make informed decisions about Safety evolution

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize Safety business requirements for future reporting and analysis needs

  • Project delivery and team member support

  • Provide ad-hoc data support and recommendations to operationalize and automate recurring reporting

Required Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding and/or experience in a field-based workforce

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Safety processes

  • Foundational understanding of project management lifecycle, practices and methodologies

  • Knowledge of telecommunications industry and its business and Safety operational key performance indicators

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to influence various levels of management including cross functional teams

  • Ability to elicit, define, and manage business requirements

  • Ability to analyze and design processes and programs targeted at driving Safety awareness and reduce lost time incidents

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, must be able to speak to both business and technical stakeholders

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Effectively prioritize tasks handling multiple deliverables

  • Expert MS Excel and Powerpoint skills(Google platform experience a bonus)

  • Creative/innovative thinking

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or equivalent education and/or experience

Required Experience:

  • Strong understanding and/or experience in a field-based workforce

  • 2 years of experience in supporting projects and working with cross functional teams

  • Extensive experience in TELUS Safety standards and procedures

  • Experience working within the Telecommunications industry

  • Experienced using varies analytical tools and a strong understanding of relational databases

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Expertise in developing metric based outcomes that are repeatable and measurable

  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking

  • Strong collaboration skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
