Telus Sr. Business Analyst (Investment and Program Management) in BC, Canada

Position Overview:

The Investment and Program Management Team is looking for you a Senior Business Analyst to support capital and opex financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and end-to-end process improvement and training.

The Investment and Program Management Team is primarily responsible for capital/opex management and strategic program governance within the Business Transformation and Operations - Strategy and Enablement Organization. Responsibilities:

  • Lead Month-end and Year-end Processes

  • Lead quarterly budgeting and forecasting process for the BTO and related capital project portfolios

  • Maintain a select number of project governance and capital management reports including monthly executive reporting process

  • Lead end-to-end process improvements by supporting the PM community and Sponsors in all process related work as well as engaging the community to help find process opportunities

  • Work with a cross-functional team to analyze existing processes and identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement

  • Create and deliver training sessions to support the roll-out of the proposed process changes as well as training on existing processes on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis

  • Creating and presenting information to executive level audiences as well as the project management community on a regular basis

  • Work with existing team members to support the operational requirements of the project management and governance office

  • Work with finance teams to ensure accuracy of monthly reporting, and to develop additional reporting capacity to ensure the PM community is correctly executing on their Finance responsibilities

You will be working on things like:

  • Supporting integrated business planning across capital programs & teams

  • Developing and supporting quarterly and annual capital and DP&M planning, outlook and prioritization processes

  • Monitoring enterprise wide program execution and identifying appropriate remediation as required

  • Driving performance focusing on both quality and financial return

  • Engaging with Finance counterparts on process and policy issues

  • Supporting the development of driver based models and capital unit costing across business units

  • Tracking capital performance and interpreting results

  • Building improvements to tools, processes and governance policies

Required Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the Canadian telecommunications segment

  • Project management fundamentals and best practices

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Budgeting and forecasting models

  • Expert-level Excel and PowerPoint skills

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges

  • Solid quantitative and analytical skills complemented by ability to understand the business context

  • Excellent organization, accuracy, and attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and on cross-functional teams in a pressured environment

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision making skills with the ability to base decisions on sound financial and market assessments

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

  • Degree in Commerce or Engineering

  • MBA an asset
