Dynacare Disability Case Management Specialist in Brampton, Ontario

The Disability Case Management Specialist is responsible for providing expertise to employees, managers and HR colleagues on occupational and non-occupational short term and long term disability claims.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing active case management of short term and long term disability and Workers’ Compensation claims, working in collaboration with third parties (e.g., insurers, disability claims vendors, Workers Compensation representatives), managers, Human Resources and employees.

  • Gathering required information, completing and submitting required forms; and ensuring that disability programs are implemented effectively and within company guidelines and legal parameters.

  • Ensuring accurate and timely tracking of case information and communication of decisions.

  • Supporting collaborative return to work planning with managers and HR representatives, minimizing lost time and ensuring program effectiveness.

  • Providing regular reporting and conducting trend analyses.

  • Working with managers on root cause occupational accident analysis and conducting related investigations.

  • Proactively identifying areas of opportunity and developing and conducting training presentations related to disability management.

  • Remaining current with respect to best practices and legislation impacting disability management.

  • Conducting work as assigned related to the company benefits program.

  • Performing and participating in other department related programs and initiatives as required.

Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Human Resources or Health Sciences

  • Certified Disability Management Professional designation is preferred (or work in progress towards designation)

  • 3 to 5 years related work experience in occupational and non-occupational disability management

  • Comprehensive knowledge of disability management program principles and practices

  • Excellent technical skills with advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel

  • Experience in handling occupational and non-occupational disability cases

  • Experience in working with third parties (insurers, Workers Compensation representatives)

  • Very strong analytical and problem solving skills, with superior attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal), able to communication effectively with all levels, exercising tact, diplomacy and sensitivity

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders

  • Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

  • A positive, “can do” attitude with a very strong customer-focused approach and the ability to deal with challenging situations in a timely manner with integrity, empathy and sincerity

  • Being adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Very strong organizational skills, including balancing multiple responsibilities, effectively meeting deadlines and handling high work volume
