Morrison Hershfield's Building Performance Analysis department is looking for a self-motivated and technically focused individual to join our team. The successful candidate will have a career focus on becoming a recognized technical leader in hygrothermal analysis and Building Science. The candidate will be an integral part our Building Science team, which is characterized by a strong and recognizable brand name in the North American building engineering industry. Hygrothermal analysis to evaluate the performance of building envelope assemblies for R&D, aid in the design of new or retrofit construction projects, and product evaluations for manufacturers.
Develop heat transfer models to evaluate the thermal transmittance and dynamic response of building envelope components (2D and 3D).
Provide independent field and design review of the building envelope components for new-construction.
Assist with field investigation and condition assessments of the building envelope for existing buildings.
Perform in-situ testing of building envelope components and glazing.
Field instrumentation and monitoring of building envelope assemblies.
Strive to become a technical champion and resource for internal and external clients with regard to hygrothermal analysis of the building envelope.
Assist in developing company-wide tools and resources.
Act as the primary contact for direct and indirect clients.
Apply engineering judgment to resolve building envelope design and construction related problems.
Write technical white papers and present to external audiences.
Engineering degree with a specilization in building science.
Knowledge and experience with heat-air-moisture modeling of building envelope assemblies (WUFI, DELPHIN, CHAMPS, hygIRC).
Knowledge and experience with Finite Element Analysis (Nx, Solidworks, ANSYS, etc).
Practical knowledge of building construction and systems.
Self-motivated and multi-tasker, excellent time management skills, and excellent communicaiton skills (written, oral).
Attention to detail.
Strong consensus building skills and team approach.
P.Eng. or working towards registration.
