Volt Information Sciences Development Support QA in Burnaby, British Columbia

Volt Workforce Solutions is currently looking for talented and upbeat gaming professionals for multiple roles with our client located in Burnaby, BC. As a Dev Support QA you would work closely with the development and production teams. The Dev Support QA team participates in stand ups and scrum meetings, is a stakeholder for test planning, test case creation, and bug estimates, and may perform white and grey box test cases.

Many Development Support QA staff will have a specialized, in-depth knowledge of an area of expertise, such as online server-client architecture, automation, game development, software feature ownership, rendering, computer systems, and/or a basic understanding of programming languages. Subject-matter expertise in sports such as Soccer or Hockey may also be an asset.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Find and report issues/bugs/inconsistencies

  • Track issues from beginning to end

  • Clarify issues (providing detailed information if necessary)

  • Verify the resolution of issues through to the end of the testing process

  • Drive the creation and execution of test plans in partnership with development and production teams

  • Communicate test plans and escalate issues to leadership

  • Provide feedback on client features and quality

  • Self-starter; strong work ethic, able to meet responsibilities without constant supervision

  • Capable of understanding complex online architecture and how it applies to client, server, e-commerce, games, and websites, as well as understanding their dependencies with external systems

  • Capable of owning small projects from beginning to end and eventually gaining expertise in an area to help troubleshoot Live issues

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working with teams across multiple studios

  • Strong observational skills, analytical and detail oriented

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Flexible and team-oriented, with good interpersonal and follow-up skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and/or tasks

  • Ability to work well in a group setting, with people of different disciplines

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment

  • Technical proficiencies in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer)

  • Proficient in PC use and current windows operating systems


  • Soccer, MMA or Hockey expertise

  • Mobile or web development experience

  • Games industry experience

  • Programming knowledge and experience preferred (e.g. a Computer Science, Computer Systems & Technology, a or similar degree)

  • Game Design or related educational background preferred in the absence of a technical background
