Robert Half Office Team Freight Coordinator in Burnaby, British Columbia

Exciting opportunity for a Freight Coordinator with a leading distribution company in Burnaby. Due to growth and continued expansion, this newly created position will report into the Purchasing Manager and be responsible for arranging freight for inbound orders, consolidating shipments as needed, coordinating all aspects for delivery, communicating with the individual buyers and freight companies, obtaining and completing any customs or other shipping documents required (ie.NAFTA). Other duties will include entering freight cost details into the ERP system, resolving discrepancies with carriers, and tracking shipments to ensure on-time delivery. In addition, you will be responsible for looking for cost efficiencies with respect to rates and negotiation of the best rates and service as well as looking for cost-effective freight alternatives and options on an on-going basis.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have 5 plus years of experience in freight coordination and logistics ideally within food or temperature controlled goods, a post-secondary degree preferably with a focus on transportation, excellent communication skills and strong negotiation skills. This role also requires an individual with excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task and the ability to work under pressure and within time constraints. Detail, strong analytical skills, an aptitude for numbers and details and proven problem-solving capabilities are a must, as are advanced Excel and experience with an ERP system. The ability to work in a team environment as well as the ability to research, analyze and evaluate all components of transportation is considered mandatory to be considered for this role.
