Cenovus is looking for highly motivated and ambitious students to join our accounting organization. We have a number of opportunities within our accounting function which could include: corporate accounting, operational accounting, royalty accounting, production accounting, credit risk, internal audit, SOX compliance, income tax compliance and financial performance and analysis.

This position will appeal to individuals who work well within a team environment and is for a four month term, beginning in May 2017.

These positions are located in Calgary, AB.

  • assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting – compiling information, preparing reports and performing analysis

  • perform various month-end and quarter-end tasks such as preparing journal entries, accruals, reconciling accounts and investigating variances

  • assist with the preparation of tax returns and elections

  • develop, maintain, assess and document internal controls

  • processing joint interest billings, surface and mineral lease rentals

  • compiling, managing and reporting financial and production data

  • complete financial statement analysis, basic credit risk assessments, recommend credit limits for approval and ensure daily credit exposures are within pre-approved limits

  • obtain an understanding of Cenovus’s business processes and procedures as well as involvement in various projects

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of your work term

  • Currently enrolled full-time in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of an accounting program at an accredited university and returning to full-time studies after the work term

  • A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Available to begin work May 2017
