Cenovus is looking for highly motivated and ambitious students to join our engineering function. We have a number of opportunities within our engineering function across our operations which could include: Oil sands (Foster and Christina Lake) and Conventional oil and natural gas (throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan). Our student positions provide opportunities to learn and apply engineering principles. Our positions are utilized to evaluate the candidates’ potential as possible future, full-time employees. Job performance will be reviewed periodically throughout and appraised at the end of the term.

This role will provide you with an understanding of field operations, which is fundamental to engineering design and decision making.
Safety training will be provided in Calgary; however, these field positions will be based in operations sites in Alberta and Saskatchewan. These positions may be camp based, supporting our operations at Foster Creek, Christina Lake in northern Alberta, and Conventional Oil and Natural Gas in southern Alberta/Saskatchewan. Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations. Modes of transportation and/or schedules may change from time to time in accordance with changing operating needs and transportation availability. Foster Creek and Christina Lake are serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as Bus transportation available to the sites from La Corey, Lac La Biche, Bonnyville, and Cold Lake, AB.
Prepare drilling, completions and work over evaluations and procedures
Conduct reservoir performance evaluations, pipeline and compression optimization studies, evaluating new engineering technologies
Work with operations staff associated with the day-to-day management of an oil or gas field
Legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of your work term
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical, Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering
A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Available to begin work in May 2017
Currently enrolled full-time in 3rd or 4th year of an engineering program at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term
Expected graduation date: Winter 2017 or later
Previous engineering or field experience is considered an asset

Understanding of key safety principles and demonstrated safety leadership
