Cenovus Energy Engineering Technologist - Student - 4 Month Term in Calgary, Alberta

Cenovus is looking for highly motivated and ambitious students to join our engineering function. We have a number of opportunities within our engineering function across our operations which could include: Oil Sands (Foster Creek and Christina Lake) and Conventional Oil and Natural Gas (throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan).

This is a 4 month term beginning May 2017 in Calgary.

  • Develop an understanding of field operations, which is fundamental to engineering design and decision making

  • Analyze and track production data

  • Identify possible optimization opportunities, and assist in repairs and maintenance of equipment

  • Monitor and record the production from oil and gas wells and monitor the operations of related equipment and facilities, either by visual inspection or remotely by computer

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of your work term

  • Enrolled in a Chemical, Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering Technology Program

  • A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an Engineering Technology program at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term

  • Expected graduation date: Winter 2017 or later

  • Previous engineering or field experience is considered an asset

  • Available to begin work in May 2017

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Critical thinker and ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced, high-performing, team environment

  • Flexible to changing work demands and ability to prioritize

  • Innovative, with a strong desire to learn and the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes or solutions

  • Demonstrates collaboration by actively seeking out diverse people and organizations to collectively achieve business goals

  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Understanding of key safety principles and demonstrated safety leadership
