Cenovus Energy HR Analyst in Calgary, Alberta

Cenovus Energy is looking to fill the position of HR Analyst. Reporting to the Group Lead, HR Services, the HR Analyst is responsible for providing first line support to HR Business Partners, employees and leaders through a dedicated HR shared service center. The HR Analyst will be responsible for supporting employee transactions through managing data in the HR system, preparing HR documentation, processing leaves of absences, retirements, terminations, hires, reorganizations and other employee data changes.

This is a full-time position located in Calgary, AB.

  • Provide timely and accurate transaction support for employee life cycle events through partnering with the applicable internal teams (i.e. payroll, compensation, HRIS, benefits). This includes new hire onboarding, employee transfers, departures, exit interviews, employee assignments, retirements, leave of absences, personal data changes and other duties as assigned

  • Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to support HR initiatives and operations

  • Maintain knowledge of organizational and departmental policies and procedures in order to be able to answer general employee and leader inquiries while adhering to Cenovus’s values and practices

  • Assist with the creation of materials/templates related to HR procedures and policies

  • Support HR processes such as annual compensation cycles, performance & development reviews, benefit enrollment and others

  • Maintain personnel files, data requests, and any compliance-related information

  • Lead HR projects and initiatives, as assigned and serve as first point of contact for Shared Services HR related questions

  • Collaborate with members of the HR Business Partner Team in providing superior support to the business

  • Communicate with Payroll on an ongoing and timely basis regarding payroll related transactions

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in HR or related discipline

  • 3-5 years of related HR and technical experience

  • Experience working in a large company, HR shared services operating model is preferred

  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards is an asset

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to contribute to decisions and recommendations

  • Willingness and ability to perform both tactical work and higher-level strategic work

  • Superior communication, collaboration and organization skills, along with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to details

  • Excellent customer service skills with a strong bias to getting things done quickly and effectively

  • Experience and willingness to work in a large, complex and changing environment, where responsibilities may shift within the scope of assigned task or where processes are still maturing

  • Ability to effectively build relationships and work across teams, departments, businesses, and cultures

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects from conception to completion in a team environment
