Materials Testing Laboratory Technician will be responsible for testing and inspecting various construction materials such as soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete for quality control/quality assurance purposes. Also responsible to prepare field and lab inspection and testing reports and provide technical support for construction quality control personnel. RESPONSIBILITIES • Conducting following laboratory and field tests: o Soil Particle Size Analysis using Hydrometer o Specific Gravity of Soil o Sieve Analysis o Moisture-Density Relation of Soil (Proctor) o Moisture and Density of Soil Using Nuclear Gauge o Sampling and Testing Fresh Concrete (Slump, Air Content, Temperature and Density) o Concrete and Grout Compressive Strength • Wet concrete testing per ACI/ASTM standards • Aggregate gradation/sieve analysis testing per ASTM standards • Concrete compression testing per ACI/ASTM standards • Entering test data in web based software and MS Excel • Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating test equipment • General laboratory cleaning and maintenance as required • Ability to work alone or a team member REQUIREMENTS • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in heavy civil construction • High School Diploma/DEG and/or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or similar experience preferred • CCIL or ACI certification highly desired. • Radiation Safety and TDG (Portable Gauge Users) Certification preferred • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word • Must have a valid class 5 (or better) driver’s license with clean drivers abstract • Must be able to communicate well with co-workers • Must be able to work under pressure • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies • The successful candidate must successfully complete a site pre-access drug and alcohol test • Ability to work cooperatively independently and with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment
