Our client in downtown Calgary is a leading private equity firm looking for a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT to cover a personal leave for the next 12-14 months. As the Senior Accountant you will report to, and work with the Accounting Manager day to day, and collaborate with a 4-6 person finance team to perform financial accounting & reporting for several legal entities. You will be responsible for month end accruals and other journal entries, some compliance and regulatory reporting, and assisting with the corporate and partnership tax returns. There are multiple entities involved and as the Senior Accountant you will prepare fund reporting packages, compile fund, partnership and joint investor financial statements, prepare net asset value statements, partner capital statements and maintain cash call & distribution information to support reporting. This Senior Accountant also performs several Treasury functions in this role. There are multiple entities and therefore several bank accounts and investor accounts that involve daily cash monitoring. This role requires the Senior Accountant to liaise and coordinate with many internal stakeholders to ensure the cash requirements are met and carried out in the correct accounts. Communicating and updating is important in this role. There will be some cash forecasting, cash management, wire transfers, liaising with banking representatives and resolving issues that arise. This also involves processing and settlement of trading activities such as purchases, sales, equity line of credit, promissory notes etc. Other responsibilities will include analysis and reconciliation of the fund portfolio's, calculating distributions and monthly management fees / draws and some ad hoc project work. This group of professionals, are interdependent and looking for a strong professional who will help them meet their deadlines but also be willing to learn new skills and be able to pick things up quickly.

Requirements: The successful consultant will be designated, (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) and have at least 3-5 years of accounting and financial reporting experience. You will have prepared financial statements and note disclosures under ASPE and IFRS and have experience liaising with external auditors through audit times for the entities you are responsible for. Ideally you will have experience with some tax preparation in corporate, partnership returns. Also experience with private equity and fund reporting. This position requires strong analytical skills and a strong initiative and ability to get things done independently, but also know when to ask for help! You will have some experience with treasury functions and reporting, but the client is definitely willing to train the individual on various pieces if you are dedicated and willing to learn and have a strong attention to detail. Good MS excel skills are required including the ability to perform pivot tables and any exposure to MS Dynamics or Navision is also ideal.
