CLEAResult Senior Program Manager in Calgary, Alberta


The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for achievement of all client-specified objectives and deliverables, as well as for making progress toward long-term client and CLEAResult goals.

The project will support delivery of electric and natural gas energy efficiency services to Residential and Commercial energy users in Western Canada.

This position supervises a staff of 5 – 15 people.


  • Responsible for delivering a successful energy efficiency program to the utility client according to the contract terms.

  • Identify, define, quantify, track and drive program deliverables, which may include KWh, GJ, GHG or other results

  • Developing a strategy to ensure successful program delivery

  • Tracking progress and adjusting strategies and tactics as necessary

  • Ensuring deliverables coming from supporting departments/groups meet the quality standards and are delivered on time

  • Responsible for managing client communications and relationships.

  • Take ownership of the client relationship at the program management level

  • Meet regularly with the client

  • Communicate through all appropriate channels to make sure the client is informed about and satisfied with our work

  • Producing client reporting

  • Identifying opportunities with client for expanded work and making presentations as appropriate

  • Resolving/escalating client issues

  • Responsible for supervising, managing, and developing program staff

  • Ensuring professional and leadership development of program staff

  • Monitoring and managing staff deliverables and tracking progress

  • Establishing and delivering annual staff development plans

  • Coaching, supporting, and disciplining staff as necessary

  • Responsible for delivering the program within the established budget

  • Submitting client invoices and following up on late payments

  • Managing to the budget


Experience with demand side management or energy efficiency program management; energy efficiency program development and management; typical residential and/or commercial end uses and efficiency measures; energy engineering; client service; relationship management; staff management.

  • Seven plus years’ experience managing energy efficiency programs or projects specifically in the residential or commercial sectors, or demonstrated ability to perform the work.

  • Interdisciplinary experience – proven work experience in technical, financial, and managerial responsibilities on energy and/or demand-side management projects and programs

  • Proficient in establishing job and work process flow

  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi task while consistently meeting deadlines and budget

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent listening skills

  • Customer service focus

  • A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others

  • Ability to perform short and long range planning

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent project and program management skills.
