Sofina Foods Inc. Food Safety Systems Specialist (West) in Edmonton, Alberta
1 Year Contract
Reporting to the Manager, Food Safety, the Food Safety Systems Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of all GFSI programs within their assigned manufacturing facilities to ensure the plants’ meet the GFSI specific scheme standards and requirements and are fully prepared for their annual audits. Through internal audits, seek out opportunities to improve upon the HACCP, Food Safety and Quality Programs.
Develop, update and help implement GFSI standards and certifications for all facilities’ Food Safety and Quality Management systems;
Conduct internal audits on plants and processes and provide timely feedback to the Quality Assurance Director and Plant Manager on deficiencies;
Annual assessment and over-site of HACCP plans and prerequisite programs for facilities of responsibility;
Assist in preparation and participation in all BRC/3rd party audits/CFIA audits and assist in follow up corrective actions;
Ensure all Quality Assurance and operations staff understand and are trained on new regulations/standards.
Bachelor of science or college diploma in food science or other related science discipline;
Experience in the meat processing industry would be an asset;
Understanding of HACCP principles, experience working with or developing HACCP and prerequisite programs;
Understanding of GFSI standards, experience in implementing industry best practices;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
Strong communication skills (verbal and written);
Occasional travel to other facilities is required.
