Reporting to the Manager of Technology Infrastructure, the Infrastructure Analyst, is responsible for providing implementation and support of the College’s entire network infrastructure. The responsibilities of this position include many areas and disciplines within an advanced network technology infrastructure technology infrastructure environment. As such, this position requires a skilled technical professional with a well-rounded background in network technology.
The successful candidate will be actively engaged at all levels of the college including managers, consultants, vendors, and stakeholders through individual contact, group meetings, and as a committee participant.
Network infrastructure support and maintenance:
Responsible for maintaining and supporting all network infrastructure including network hardware and operating systems.
Configure and maintain network technologies, working with service providers to ensure Internet transit services are active and available.
Plans and executes complicated deployment of, and upgrades to, major network components
Research and identify opportunities surrounding technology advances.
Creates, updates and maintains network design and configuration documentation.
Accept and work on issues from ticketing system.
Travel to remote sites as required.
Network design, planning and implementation:
Provide inputs to design and architecture of network environment
Develop, and install solutions to complex technical problems
Plans, designs, deploys and manages the internetworking of network equipment and components College wide
Assist with design, and implement, and test information technology security mechanisms and systems in the context of the network infrastructure.
Assist in evaluations of vendor products in network technology and recommend purchases consistent with short and long-term objectives
Customer Relations and communications:
Works closely with staff and faculty to determine business needs
Demonstrates ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing
Provide regular status updates to the Manager of Technology Infrastructure.
Must hold, as a minimum, either a two-year diploma from a post-secondary institution in a field of study directly related to the position, or a Bachelor’s degree in Information & Technology or a related discipline. Experience and equivalencies may be considered.
No additional credentials required, however additional qualifications, post-secondary education, training or credentials related to key responsibilities of this position are desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with current, relevant network certifications.
Minimum two years of experience performing the activities normally associated with this role.
Must have good written and communication skills.
Demonstrates effective communication with team members, managers, staff and faculty.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to effectively communicate under stressful circumstances during unplanned outages, unforeseen emergencies and ever changing operational priorities
Proficient technical ability, excellent planning and design skills and analytical thinking
Ability to follow plans and procedures, be decisive and effectively perform under stress and high pressure situations
This is a multi-discipline team, so experience with the following would be considered an asset:
Microsoft Windows server
SAN/NAS based storage.
Firewalls and other security appliances
SALARY: $58,681 - $75,225 per annum - commensurate with education and experience. This position also includes immediate participation in our comprehensive pension and benefits plan.
