Weir Minerals Canada requires a Pump and Scanning Technician with experience with rotating equipment to join our growing team. The technician would be responsible for assisting customers with Weir pumps, and other rotating mineral processing equipment on site. The technician would also be responsible for operating the Surphaser SR laser scanner for part wear measurements and engineering services. Registered apprentices and journeyman Millwrights, machinists along with Engineers in training will be considered depending on specific job experience.
The position will be rotational, two weeks at the customer site and two weeks off. The applicant would preferably be based out of Ft Mac, although other locations would be acceptable depending on the strength of the applicant.
Assist customers with pump maintenance
Perform wear measurement scans
If a part has issues scan the part and work with the reliability group to find root causes
Act as a liaison between customer and Weir Minerals engineering team
Support customers with all Weir related equipment and troubleshooting

A Millwright, Engineer in Training, with experience with assembly, repair, and overhaul of pumps and mechanical rotating equipment
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, engineering drawings, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute and understand ratio, rate, percent and to draw/interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, area, circumference, and volume, as required in interpretation of engineering drawings.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations, Special Skills:
Millwright equivalent certification, or registered as an apprentice. A technical degree such as an engineering degree could also be an asset.
Employee must be able to work while standing and/or sitting, and occasionally lifting equipment of up to 25 lbs. Ability to handle mechanical tools and measuring devices is required. Use of Personal Protective Equipment is required in designated locations.
Environment may vary from moderate (warehouse/light traffic environment) to loud (manufacturing plant /customer-sites).
