Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor supervises a team of mechanic-welders, electrical technicians and stationary machine mechanics, participates in maintaining performance and continuous improvement at the plant, and ensures that the work environment is safe and that food quality and safety standards are maintained.
More specifically, the Maintenance Supervisor:
Manages the department’s day-to-day activities;
Participates in and leads daily performance monitoring meetings;
Does inspections on the floor to monitor progress by the team of technicians;
Ensures compliance with the planning schedule by optimizing workforce use;
Prioritizes work to be completed within 24 – 48 hours; the goal is to achieve target performance indicators and ensure that the preventive and corrective equipment maintenance program runs efficiently;
Mobilizes team to take responsibility for short- and medium-term planning, problem solving and continuous improvement;
Ensures that employees and subcontractors apply the plant’s OHS policies (lockout, working in enclosed spaces, working at heights, etc.);
Supervises the production and delivery of quality utilities (water, steam, refrigeration and compressed air);
Contributes to capital spending requests for changes in the plant’s technical processes and equipment.
You have a University degree or College diploma in engineering, administration or other relevant field combine to management experience;
You cumulate a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience, preferably in the food industry, including four (4) years’ experience managing unionized staff;
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mobilize a team;
Proven leadership and planning skills;
Proven track record in managing multiple priorities;
Results oriented with excellent communication skills;
Knowledge of continuous improvement in maintenance and equipment reliability would be a significant asset.
