BDO Business Analyst, IT in Greater Toronto Area, Ontario

Reporting to the Manager, Project Management Office (PMO), the Business Analyst is primarily responsible for liaising with business units, firm internal functions and IT teams to gather and document BDO’s needs and support the Project Management team toward delivering business solutions across firm supported technology platforms.
This individual will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help capture, track and validate business requirements in order to maximize the benefit of investments in business and IT initiatives.
The Business Analyst will create business analysis, functional and/or non-functional designs, business workflow and process maps as required. They will interact with Quality Assurance Analyst, Development, and Project Management teams in project portfolio prioritization, project intake/onboarding and delivery of projects of low to medium levels of complexity and risk to internal clients.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Liaison between business units and technology team to accurately gather, analyze, document and deliver business application requirements and draft functional/non-functional designs
Perform needs analysis based on business requirements and ensure organizational goals are met
Identify and analyze business problems and define the scope of activities required to address the issues, including requirements definition, process review and impact assessment
Participate in all aspects of project delivery activities including, but are not limited to, documentation of project needs, analysis/research of needs and possible solutions, contributing to project schedule and effort estimates; identifying technology (where appropriate) and business solutions; gathering, documenting and updating business requirements and creating, reviewing and validating process maps
Facilitate meetings, and conduct information gathering sessions
Work with Quality Assurance Analyst to develop and execute test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and document results
Report and provide progress updates on initiatives to Project Manager in a timely manner
Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge
3 – 5 years of experience in a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst role
Strong knowledge and working experience with Portfolio Program and Project Management Tools, System Development Lifecycle methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Iterative), Project Management Lifecycle best practices and Business Analysis tools, diagrams, and methodologies
Strong facilitation, presentation and training skills with the ability to effectively advise on business and technology solutions in relation to process improvement
Strong experience with estimating task effort of low to medium complexity projects
Strong analytical, time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with tight deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and in a team environment
University Degree or College Diploma with emphasis on management of information systems or computer systems
Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) from International Institute of Business Analysts (IIBA) considered an asset
