Your Duties:

We have an immediate opportunity for an Intermediate Environmental Data Management Specialist to join our dynamic Environmental Remediation team in Markham, Mississauga, Stoney Creek, Guelph, or Waterloo, ON.

Responsibilities:

As part of our Data Management Team, you will:

  • Manage and organize laboratory, field, spatial and geological data to ensure quality and consistency

  • Maintain and query data in MS Access or MS SQL Server

  • Produce data reports using in-house software and by writing specialized queries to provide custom reports

  • Develop standards and procedures for the data management team

  • Use Federal/Provincial/State Regulations as necessary for the project and assist in maintaining regulatory guideline database

  • Coordinate with project managers, laboratories, and/or other team members to acquire data packages of varying formats to be imported to a centralized database system

  • Peer review deliverables created by other data management team members, and delegate work as necessary

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Chemistry, Geography or related field, or a certificate/diploma in Database Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geography, or related field

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with EarthSoft EQuIS or 5 years MS Access/SQL Server, including strong understanding of database design

  • Strong understanding of federal, provincial and state guidelines and ability to apply them following the regulatory framework

  • Experience working with environmental analytical data or other scientific data

  • Strong problem-solving and trouble shooting skills, strong attention to detail and strong analytical skills

  • Capable of working both independently and in a team environment, with a client focus

  • Exceptional time management skills; able to work under the pressure of short deadlines, conflicting priorities and scope changes

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of software packages and applications such as Manifold, ArcView, AutoCAD are considered assets
