Job DescriptionBusiness Planning Hamilton Finishing Scheduler and Expeditor

U.S Steel Canada has an immediate opening for a Business Planner I in the Business Planning department, located in Hamilton, Ontario. Major responsibilities include the following:

• To create, issue and manage schedules for production for 4 Stand, #3 Galvanize and Z-Line; this requires all scheduling rules to be adhered and the scheduling of orders for Customer Compliance and downstream Unit support.

•Communicate regularly with Account Managers, Customer Service Representatives, Logistics, QA Metallurgical, Metallurgical Order Dressing, Shipping Departments, Operating and technical personnel on a daily basis on various issues including order entry, production, shipments etc.;

•Following and expediting the production of special trial orders to ensure order is produced;

•Expedite Customer orders for delivery and compliance reporting, system maintenance duties, and system clean up reports;

A Business Planner is exposed to various aspects of U.S. Steel’s overall business.


•Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, supply chain management or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

•At least 1 year of related experience in Business Planning, or closely related function

•Excellent planning, organization, communications and interpersonal skills

•Computer literacy to a working skills level - proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

•Ability to adapt to and master web-based support applications

•Related experience in the steel, metals or closely related industry preferred

•Willing to travel to LEW Plant as required
