The Accounting Clerk reports to the Controller and is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services to the company. This includes, but is not limited to, processing and monitoring payments and expenditures ensuring that finances are accurate and up to date, staffs are paid in a timely and appropriate manner and that vendor and suppliers are paid within established time limits. In addition, the individual will be processing Order Entry and Billing. The Accounting Clerk will assist the Controller in providing reliable and timely information and analysis to ensure completion of month end/quarter end/year end close as necessary.


  • Receive and verify invoices for goods and services

  • Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures

  • Prepare batches of invoices for data entry

  • Manage the weekly cheque run

  • Prepare vendor cheques for mailing

  • Prepare manual cheques as and when required

  • Maintain listing of accounts payable and reconcile to the general Ledger

  • Maintain updated vendor files and file numbers

  • Provide analytical reporting support, as required

  • Make B2B calls to vendor

  • Prepare and deposits cheques at bank

  • Verifying and entering of customer orders and processing invoices

  • Follow up on outstanding customer payments.

  • Assist with month-end procedures and day-to-day operations

  • Assist Controller with audits requests, as required

  • Ability to take on new tasks, as and when required.


  • Post-secondary education in an Accounting or Business related field with at least 5 years’ experience in an accounting environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment

  • Forward thinking team player, takes initiatives in carrying out new ideas

  • Ability to learn quickly and being a self-starter

  • Strong MS-Office skills

  • SAGE ACCPAC experience is an asset
