CONTROLLER

OVERVIEW

Our client, a Kingston manufacturing company, is seeking a financial leader with proven financial, strategic and operational leadership experience to lead and oversee all company financial activities.

As financial leader for the organization, you will direct the annual budget process and monthly preparation and analysis of financial statements and forecasts, ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. You will participate in strategic decision-making and oversee the financial operations to ensure the financial success of the company and achievement of its financial targets. You will be a thought leader and agent for change, recommending changes to improve systems and financial performance.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct General Accounting, Cost Accounting and Information Services

  • Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records

  • Ensure financial plans and forecasting are consistent with organizational goals; provide financial analysis to drive sound decision making

  • Monitor and report on Pension Plan activities and prepare annual financial statements

  • Report and interpret monthly results including financial variances and KPI’s

  • Develop and maintain sound financial/accounting policies, procedures and systems

  • Manage, coach and develop a team of direct reports ensuring that the team has the appropriate skills/resources to be effective

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CPA or equivalent)

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in a senior financial position in manufacturing environments

  • Proven experience in high level financial planning and analysis

  • Ability to lead change, analyze and solve problems; good organizational skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail

  • Effective and persuasive communication and presentation skills; ability to provide a collaborative/consultative approach in delivering ideas, solutions and results to senior management

  • Desire to build and maintain good working relationships at all levels of the organization
