Parsons’ Kitchener office provides transportation and municipal engineering services in the Waterloo-Wellington-Guelph-Brant-Brantford region, including the Region of Waterloo, the Counties of Brant and Wellington and area municipalities.

Parsons’ Kitchener office is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to manage Municipal and Provincial Transportation Projects involving Environmental Assessment, Preliminary and Detailed Design, Construction Supervision and Contract Administration.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues in Parsons’ offices in London, Mississauga and Niagara Falls, and potentially assume management responsibilities in the Kitchener office focusing on business development and client care in the local market.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, organizes and co-ordinates work on a number of transportation engineering projects

  • Assigns and manages tasks and activities in multiple projects, including the co-ordination of different disciplines and sub-consultants

  • Provides technical direction and supervision of project teams in regard to conformance with applicable standards and practices

  • Responsible for preparing Project Schedules, Budgets, and Project Deliverables including Technical Reports, Preliminary and Detailed Design, Cost Estimates and Tender Documentation

  • Establishes effective working relations with clients, colleagues, and technical agencies, including the organization of meetings, minutes and follow-up actions

  • Seeks new projects and is involved in proactive business development with existing and new clients

  • Writes proposals and technical reports

  • Performs quality control & quality assurance of work

  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable, invoicing approval, and fee structure

  • Is a solid team player and contributes to the overall wellness of the company as a whole

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and skills:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in transportation and municipal engineering

  • Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers (P. Eng)

  • Experience with Municipal and Provincial Transportation Projects involving Environmental Assessment, Preliminary and Detailed Design, Construction Supervision and Contract Administration.

  • The ability to prepare proposals, written expressions of interest and technical reports

  • Proven success in managing municipal and transportation engineering projects of various size and complexity

  • Ability to supervise, train and mentor intermediate engineers & technologists

  • Strong written and communication skills
