Stantec, in our Waterloo and Markham offices , has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager and an Intermediate Project Manager . The successful candidate will lead a multi discipline team of Architectural and Engineering design professionals through the design and construction phases of Manufacturing, Industrial, Commercial, Higher Education, Healthcare, and Civic projects. Projects will vary in size and duration from weeks to years. The Project Manager is expected to display an attitude of motivational leadership with respect to overall project management activities.

Your Duties:

  • Prepare project work plans.

  • Define project scope, deliverables, team, and schedule.

  • Engage, manage, and motivate project team.

  • Delegate and monitor design responsibilities at project onset.

  • Communicate project objectives, plan, and context to staff.

  • Coordinate technical tasks and production deliverables.

  • Plan and execute project team meetings.

  • Schedule and record client meetings.

  • Identify, communicate, and implement scope deviations to client and project team.

  • Communicate regularly with the client regarding project specifics.

  • Take responsibility and monitor project financial and schedule performance.

  • Project invoicing. Prepare monthly project status reports.

  • Ensure compliance with Stantec’s QA/QC Framework requirements.

  • Provide feedback to team and discipline leads on staff performance.

  • Works closely with Building Engineering Sector Leaders, Discipline Leaders, and Team Leads.

  • Mentor more junior Project Managers.

  • Establish a climate suitable for repeat business with the client and cross-sell applicable services.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Graduate of a technical college or degree program.

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the building construction or design industry with at least 5 years (intermediate role), or 10 years (senior role), project management experience.

  • Experience with large projects preferred.

  • PMP designation is not a requirement.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven team leader and motivator with an aptitude for facilitation.

  • Aptitude for business development (ability to identify, pursue and secure Buildings projects) is an asset.

  • Self-starter with a performance based drive to achieve results.

  • Sound working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of office products.
