Morrison Hershfield Tower Climber in Markham, Ontario

Reporting to the Field Services Manager, the successful candidate will be involved in climb inspections of telecommunication and broadcast towers performing structural mappings, maintenance reviews, and inspection of construction. The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering and interest in performing engineering tasks in the office when field work is lite. This position would ideally support both engineering and field services.

  • ​Perform tower structural mappings, inventory mappings, maintenance inspections, modification inspections and site audits

  • Work locations throughout the U.S. and Canada

  • Write reports from field observations, work with CAD staff to develop profile drawings and communicate regularly with engineering staff

  • Perform CWI (if certified)

  • Construction management and supervision of subs and/or subcontractors

  • Work with Health and Safety Manager to maintain and develop safety protocols

  • Ideal candidate will also be responsible for additional engineering work in the office during periods of lite field work

  • Technician or Technologist Diploma

  • Bachelor (4-year) degree (Engineering) preferred

  • Valid Ontario drive's license and access to a vehicle

  • Ability to Obtain Comtrain Climbing Certification (or equivalent) - MH can supply

  • 5+ years of experience in climbing telecommunication/broadcast towers (lesser experience will be considered for those with technical background)

  • Willingness to travel for 70-100% of projects

  • Must be safety conscious

  • Willingness to work in a team environment focused on learning and development - also self driven to perform tasks independently on site

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • CWI, Construction Engineering Management degree, construction management experience, EIT or experience with CAD are all considered a plus
