Eaton Corporation Machine Operator-Rotating shift in Milton, Ontario
The Machine Operator’s primary function is to set up and operate fabrication equipment used in the Feeder department for the production of standard and custom parts to support the both internal and external customers.
Essential Functions/Position Requirements ** *
Perform safety check for machine and supporting equipment and advise supervisor of concerns.
Perform autonomous maintenance and complete safety check sheets.(Shift Pre-Start checklist)
Operate Machine(s) based on on-the-job training, standardized operating procedures, detailed work instructions and manufacturer’s requirements.
Set up and operate various machines in the Bus shop for specific pars, e.g., Shear (Franklin) Punch and Form copper and aluminum bussing.
Calculate bend radii allowances from drawings using precision measuring equipment.
Adhere to detailed specifications, work instructions, manufacturing information and written or verbal instructions from supervision.
Run and operate Dynamic Machine Management software (DMM), including using DMM hold codes to report program issue or any other issues.
Run and operate drawing search software (Enovia, Vault etc.) to view and print drawings for fabrication purpose. Work from drawings, sketches, manufacturing information to determine dimensions as well as from written or verbal instruction from supervision.
Review drawings for accuracy and resolve issues with appropriate personnel.
Determine the sequence of operations and feed material through machine.
Maintain and log information on production using DMM and keep machine history as required (down-times, green light etc).
Ensure completed production orders are kept in an organized manner; through utilizing proper bin selection, tagging, pallet sizes and routed to the next operation.
Monitor operation of machines to clear blockage, prevent jams and breakage and assure adequate lubrication of feed stock.
Ensure tooling is properly maintained.
Maintain Kanban system where applicable; additionally retrieve raw material with tow motor if trained and certified.
Perform minor machine maintenance.
Inform supervisor of potential production or material problems, including delay in shipment or delivery.
Maintain a positive commitment to the prevention of pollution and protection of the environment by following the ISO 14001 environment procedures, work instructions and other operational controls.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Implement Lean manufacturing at a departmental level through the use of lean tools and philosophies.
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)
High School Diploma or Grade 12 Diploma from an accredited.
A minimum of 2 years of Fabrication or Technical Experience.

Ability to read and understand basic drawings and layouts.
