Job Summary:

  • The Molecular Applications Specialist is primarily responsible for providing comprehensive training, technical support and troubleshooting to users for BD molecular technologies (BD MAX & BD Viper).

  • This position acts as a technical liaison to customers developing assay on the BD MAX platform.

  • They will work with customers to assist in the development and migration of their assays to the BD MAX platform.

  • The incumbent is responsible for knowledge transfer to support product launches and for providing training and support to Sales and Marketing.

  • This position must maintain a strong linkage with the Open Systems Group in R&D to collaborate as required during assay development

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support business development to enhance Open System (OS) user relationships and satisfaction.

  • Train and support users on the BD molecular technologies (BD MAX & BD Viper).

  • In collaboration with Marketing, develop and maintain an OS users KOL/Users network.

  • Help OS users develop work plans, troubleshoot and assist in migration and optimization of their assays.

  • Engage 2ndlevel support to troubleshoot issues resulting from new sample types, targets, multiplex, LOD, and other factors associated with new assays.

  • Participate as a member of the Product/Technology roadmap team to help align direction and prioritization of assay development.

  • Develop implementation plans to ensure efficient management of resources and activities to accelerate the adoption of BD technology.

  • Provide regular summary reports detailing progress in LDT assay development and subsequent tracking of assay performance in clinical use.

  • Collaborate with Lean Consultant & Project Managers on-site as required.

  • Perform special projects as requested which contribute to business growth strategies.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of the Molecular laboratories processes and techniques.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) including strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, internet, etc.).

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, solid organizational / prioritization skills and a passion for providing excellent service.

  • Ability to demonstrate experience with project management and change management initiatives.

  • Ability to multi-task and be adaptable to changing business environment(s).

  • Strong problem solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong knowledge of molecular assay development processes and techniques.

  • Comfortable working in a cross functional dynamic team environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education & Experience:

  • BSc. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology or Medical Technology.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience designing and/or developing molecular diagnostic assays.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience interacting and partnering with customers.

  • Experience in design and validation of experimental protocols desired.
