BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) CDN - Transportation Coordinator in Mississauga, Canada

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for executing and managing all Transportation Management activities associated with all areas of outbound logistics and shipping on a day to day basis.The role also provides primary support for all day to day transportation related activities, including acting as the point of contact for all Operational inquires related to transportation.Performance metrics and process improvement will play a strong role in success to meet customer needs and a positive customer experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute all day to day TMS system and shipment planning activities to support customer requirements and scheduling for the 3PL distribution team

  • Coordinate with BD carriers as needed to arrange special deliveries and requirements, in support of both Customer Service and White Glove Instrumentation needs

  • Contribute and participate in continuous improvement initiatives

  • Master Data setup and maintenance relating to transportation in TMS, SAP and offline tools as needed.Coordinate with US administrator for TMS governance as needed.

  • Support activities related to CASS audit, maintenance offreight rate tools, postal code zone tables and procedures

  • Provide quotations when requested

  • Liaise with Transportation Lead on transportation cost analysis and reporting elements and act as primary back up

  • Support ad hoc reporting requirements

  • Interact with internal customers, 3PL & carriers ensuring that requirements for transportation are being completed according to expectations.

  • Assist as needed in troubleshooting issues (eg: shunt driver, trailer pick-ups, weather delays, freight discrepancies, and damages)

  • Continually focus on process improvement, and seek solutions where costs can be reduced, and service levels increased.

  • Responsible to ensure On Time Delivery reporting by carrier/courier through monitoring of vendor portals and reports.Review claims and coordinate accordingly

Support Customs Analyst role as primary back up

  • This position may require some after-hour support for emergency instrument/spare parts shipments

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of two years experience in transportation/logistics industry

Transportation planning experience with SAP, TMS as asset

Distribution Center experience or knowledge an asset

Highly analytical with ability to manage, interpret and prepare data for reporting

Bachelor s degree in business, logistics or related field

Supply chain mgmt. experience, designation an asset (APICS, etc.)

Microsoft Word, Excel, including Pivot Tables, V-Lookups and file management

Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to effectively communicate with both internal and external parties and across locations, regions and business units

Strong time management skills

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with a 3PL

Demonstrate excellent organizational and process management skills,ability to engage and collaborate based on input from others, ability to relinquish control
