Honeywell Aerospace Reliability, Maintainability and System Safety group has an immediate opening for a Reliability/Safety Engineer for Electric Power and Controllers in Mississauga, Canada. This group has responsibility for Air Transport and Business, Regional and General Aviation products at several different Honeywell sites.
The position is responsible for conducting reliability and safety analysis of existing as well as new system implementations, supporting RM&SS activities on small to mid-scale projects, and driving milestone and schedule fidelity. Additional responsibilities include interpretation of reliability and safety analysis defined requirements to the hardware and software engineering teams and reliability/system safety assessments.
• BS degree in Electrical, Computer or Aeronautical Engineering • Two or more years of experience in aerospace or equivalent industry.
• Experience in a reliability, systems, or hardware design engineer position of comparable complexity • Ability to demonstrate understanding of potential failure modes/mechanisms, failure detection and response, methods of fault annunciation, fault containment, and fault recovery. • Able to examine a system’s design to evaluate hazards and assess risks and ensure the system architecture could meet the assigned probabilities for each hazard • Able to coordinate closely with subsystem design personnel (software and hardware, internal and customer) in order to understand system requirements and operation. • Able to support or have knowledge of Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) and Highly Accelerating Stress Screening (HASS). • Able to use the following tools and techniques (preferred): Reliability Predictions, Electrical Stress and Derating Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis • Familiarity and working knowledge of common aerospace industry safety specifications is preferred • A working knowledge of standard Microsoft office tools is required; experience using reliability/safety analysis tools such as CAFTA, Isograph Fault Trees , and Relex is preferred. • Capability to multi-task and manage competing priorities; drive and meet stretch goals; demonstrate trust and work effectively with peers, management and customers; develop and implement action plans to meet project objectives; proactively identify and resolve issues and drive continuous improvement; influence peers and customers and demonstrate critical thinking skills to drive to root cause.
