Kubra Cloud Architect in Mississauga, Ontario

KUBRA is looking for a Cloud Architect to join our Network Services team!

As a Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing Cloud solutions. In doing so, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and migrating on-premises environments provide leadership and coaching to other team members to effectively manage, support, monitor and maintain a multi-tenant Cloud vendor agnostic environment.

+ + As a Cloud Architect, you will be dedicated to all operational aspects of design and implementation of Kubra’s Cloud environment

  • Make recommendations for additional training within the Network Services Team and ensure that our processes and systems are documented to acceptable standards to facilitate internal training and knowledge transfer

  • Most of your time will be dedicated to project-related activities and IT Operations support that include the provision of thought leadership on Cloud best practices; participating actively in Cloud design discussions with KUBRA business units and Product teams; conducting capacity planning exercises and providing remediation regarding Cloud growth; as well as the planning and implementation of upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches

  • Operational support to provide hands-on technical expertise during critical incidents and contribute to our incident management process.

  • In this role, you will immediately contribute to mission critical projects including an Azure Cloud MS SQL Server Database migration. In addition, you will focus on the enhancement of monitoring capabilities for these Cloud based systems, and the continuous improvement of systems to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability to meet ongoing business demands in a high-growth environment

  • As thought-leader for the Network Services Team, you will continually review and improve work practices and methods to ensure they are best suited for the allocated task, you will collaborate with the BI unit to assist in managing the costs of Kubra’s Cloud looking for ways to reduce cost and deliver cloud solutions as efficiently as possible.

  • A Cloud SME – you provide input into technical decisions and technical direction for Kubra cloud based initiatives as well as provide strong guidance to Product and Application development teams

  • Forward thinking – you are able to proactively solve problems and provide solutions to drive improvement (automation) and alignment within Kubra’s Network Services Team

  • Tracks and reports progress on Cloud related projects and initiatives

  • BS level technical degree or commensurate experience

  • 7+ years of IT implementation experience

  • 7+ years of Linux Systems Administration with a focus on RHEL based systems

  • 3+ years hands-on experience leading the infrastructure design and deployment of business critical applications at scale

  • Knowledge of the primary AWS services (EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53 & S3)

  • Knowledge of the featured Azure services (Virtual Machines. App Service, SQL Database, Storage, DocumentDB, HDInsight)

  • Deep understanding of Cloud best practices, project management and risk mitigation

  • Strong track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments

  • Leading highly-available and fault-tolerant enterprise software deployments

  • Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (Shell, Python, Ruby, Powershell, Ansible)

  • Configuration management using CloudFormation, Chef & Puppet.

  • Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment

  • Experience managing data center operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications

  • The following are considered a strong asset, but not required:

  • NetApp NPS or similar technologies

  • Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, Docker Swarm

  • Basic understanding of OpenStack projects to include; Nova, Glance, Keystone, Cinder, Neutron, Nova-Network, Swift, and Horizon.

  • Basic understanding of Health Check options (TCP, HEAD, GET), and how to suspend servers and read loadbalancer rules.

  • Good working knowledge of common networking gear, e.g., switches, firewalls, segmentation, routers, default ports for common protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, etc.), and subnetting.

  • Demonstrated understanding of ITIL/ITSM

  • Experience with System Center

  • Experience with VMware ESX, vCenter

  • Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (eg. security, privacy,PCI-DSS, SOX, HIPAA etc.)
