Promote the culture of the MI plant to be the safest, most efficient and low cost cement plant to current and future employees
Responsible for safety of technician and operators on site; developing Job Safety reviews, Risk Analysis and other safety preventative measures
Supervising and coordinating the entire Production shift and ensuring each individual works in a safe and efficient manner to produce conforming product at all times.
Maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing all company safety guidelines and OHS Act and regulations.
Ensuring environmental guidelines are followed to address environmental performance (plume management, spills, housekeeping, etc.) according to the company procedures and Ministry of Environment guidelines.
Quality control of products according to the company quality management system.
Supporting and enforcing the requirements of the facility’s Port Security plan.
Reporting and following up on incidents.
Organizing payroll information for Production shift employees.
Organizing vacation times and maintaining vacation, overtime and coverage schedules for shift employees working within the Production department.
Ensuring Kiln and Mill outputs meet Production budget requirements.
Maintaining inventory of products in cement silos, clinker silos, raw mill silos and of all fuels.
Managing storage hall for all raw materials together with the IPT Department.
Distributing and collecting variance sheets from Operators.
Entering work notifications in SAP.
Determining the training needs of all supervised personnel and informing Production. Manager of specific training needs.
Provide perfrormance feedback to operators; succeses and opportunities
Promotoe and enhance positive union/management relationship
Beyond relieving Production Supervisors, responsibilities include:
Ability to correctly make decisions while delegating when appropiate
Prioritize and make decisions on production activities
Analyzing operations of the plant and making recommendations for improvements, including Cost/ Benefit Analysis
Coordinate production operations with safety, maintenance, quality, environment and process departments
Performing other duties and projects as assigned
Take the lead in training programs to add to operator skills
Position Requirements (Experience, Technical Expertise):
Specific knowledge regarding the overall functioning of a cement plant.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001guidelines.
Acquiring basic Port Security training for operating the dock area.
Experience working within a Heavy Industrial Manufacturing environment preferred.
Proficient computer skills, including email and applications such as SAP and Excel
Physical fitness is required for effortless mobility throughout the entire plant.
College Diploma in Engineering or Mechanical Millwright Trade Apprenticeship is required.
University Degree in Engineering, with a strong technical background is favoured.
