Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, lubricants technical services, you will work closely with the technical services and sales teams, research and development, marketing, and customer order fulfillment departments. You will provide technical expertise, product application knowledge and data management in order to support our lubricants sales organization in gaining, developing and maintaining business and customer relationships.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support our new sales development, base oils and agricultural sales teams, their distributors and customers

  • Investigate and resolve product application problems by conducting root cause analysis, while working with internal groups to resolve perceived product quality issues

  • Provide overall responsibility for product field trials leading to the development, manufacturing and launching of new products

  • Represent our organization as the technical subject matter expert for product applications to support sales in new business opportunities

  • Develop, modify and present technical presentations to and training seminars for customers, distributors, and our staff

  • Provide industry-specific field knowledge to internal groups regarding product performance, customer needs and industry trends

  • Work with approved external and internal labs to develop and support oil analysis programs

  • Provide expert advice and interaction with external distributors, blenders, approving agencies, and end customers

  • Provide back-up technical support to other technical services advisors in other geographies and segments as required

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Five or more years of experience in agricultural, petroleum, base oils or lubricants and equipment-related fields

  • Four or more years of experience working with chemical industry processes and formulation, development, testing protocols, and application performance of products

  • Bachelor degree or technical diploma in engineering or science, or Certified Crop Advisor, per the American Society of Agronomy

  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced computer literacy in the Microsoft Office suite, SAP, customer relationship management (CRM) mobile sales, and database management

  • Working knowledge and participation in audits of ISO quality, environmental systems and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) registrations, warehouse, blending, and distribution protocols

  • Heavy focus of knowledge of products and their applications for industries including agriculture (spray oil applications), lawn care, power generation (transformers), upstream drilling, dust suppressants, base oils, food and pharmaceutical

  • Strong interpersonal skills coupled with excellent written communication and oral presentation skills for audiences of varying sizes, backgrounds and levels of expertise

  • Demonstrated proactive continuous improvement and initiative to build best in class processes with excellent organizational and time management skills

Working Conditions

  • Extensive travel primarily within North America, and potential travel to other countries

  • You will work with minimal supervision and be based in a home office, with a preference for location to be in the Greater Toronto Area; other locations may be considered depending on your experience level and location
