The Senior Medical Manager, Myeloma is a key strategic role requiring therapeutic area expertise to support the company by providing expert medical/scientific knowledge to both internal and external customers. The Senior Medical Manager will be responsible for contributing to the establishment of the strategic and tactical plans associated with multiple myeloma and coordinating the many medical activities in the therapeutic area. The individual will provide accurate medical guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders for the therapeutic area and Celgene products.
R e s p o n si b iliti e s will include:
Assist the Director, Medical Affairs, Hematology and Oncology in the development and implementation of therapeutic area strategies and tactical plans, while ensuring alignment with the brand strategies and local medical plans.
Senior Medical Manager will gain and report valuable insights regarding treatment patterns and scientific activities in the therapeutic area to develop scientific strategies and concepts within the therapeutic
Identify local data gaps, support local studies protocol design, inform local data dissemination strategy.
Provide scientific/medical expertise to the therapeutic area team.
Manage the integrity and accuracy of scientific and medical data communicated both internally and externally for promotional and non-promotional purposes, including the review of dockets. Consult with the Senior Manager, Medical Communications as required.
Plan and coordinate medical marketing and scientific communication activities (advisory boards, consultancy meetings, scientific conferences, networking with KOLs, etc.).
Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders (Market Access, Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, etc.) to align strategic medical and scientific initiatives.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with national opinion leaders in the therapeutic area of expertise and ensure high quality scientific communications on a peer-to-peer basis
Strategically liaise with local Clinical Operations, as required.
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining budgets associated with projects aligned to the Senior Medical Manager role.
Additional duties as appropriate to include direct customer facing activities to assist in field execution of Medical strategies and tactics.
Education and Experience:
Master of Science; or, Bachelor of Science with 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience, preferably with a Medical Affairs, Marketing, or Clinical Research focus.
French language fluency an asset.
K nowledge & Skills Required:
Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills. Experience working with cross-functional teams required.
Strong demonstrated leadership skills.
Profound knowledge of hematology/oncology (multiple myeloma preferred) area and Celgene products, with the ability to convey knowledge and interact with opinion leaders and external experts as a peer.
Clinical experience in hematology/oncology an asset.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation, influencing and negotiating skills and medical and scientific writing skills in a complex therapeutic area.
Strong project management and facilitation skills.
Strategic thinking and prioritizing capacity.
Ability to plan and coordinate programs and activities.
Ability to analyze and interpret scientific results and to present complex scientific/medical information to scientific and lay audiences.
Knowledge of the business strategies of Celgene Canada and the business implications of scientific and medical plans and decisions.
Knowledge of the Health Canada and other federal and provincial policies impacting area.
Knowledge of Rx&D guidelines and PAAB code.
Knowledge of clinical trial design, regulations and statistics an asset.
Understanding of marketing principles and strategies.
Proven vendor and/or project management experience.
- Head office based role, with approximately 40% travel required.
