Description

Develop applications - design, code, test, and implement applications following industry accepted design methodologies. Partner with multiple application teams within the department, participate in technical discussions with application team and other global partners Develop application and business expertise and to allow design development and participation in architecture discussions with the project team Solves and works on a variety of high impact, high-profile problems / projects Ensures application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint. Acts as an advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts when needed. Persuades and influences others through strong and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills. Accurately estimate effort for assigned tasks and consistently meet commitments. Promote extensibility and reusability in application design and coding. Ability to conduct peer reviews to explain and defend component design, coding conduct Understand and document optimal configuration for application and database servers to ensure high performance and availability. Coordinate and interact with other development and infrastructure groups.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in IT total with 5+ years of Oracle DBMS, Sybase 15.0, PL/SQL, Stored Procedures, SQR, C, Linux/ AIX Unix Shell scripting, Windows, Oracle and proficiency with SQR.

  • Financial background in Canadian banking accounting practices

  • Oracle/Sybase – SQL/SQR and stored procedure development skills. Hands-on skills for the performance tuning of database applications.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; Self starter

  • Hands on development and troubleshooting skills

  • Linux/Unix - solid knowledge. Hands-on skills of shell scripts. Also need understanding of SAN/SRDF usage, HA(high availability)/ fail-over set up.

  • Source code control SVN - Familiar with source code control concepts such as branch and tag. Hands-on skills of SVN.

  • Autosys - familiar with tools to monitor autosys jobs, hands on jil skill.

  • Load balancer (VIP/WIP) – understanding the usage and configuration from app team perspective. Will work with center of excellence team to discuss requirements and plan for configuration changes.

  • SSL - experienced in certificate configuration and deployment process.

  • System monitoring tools - experience in using(not configuring) Tivoli, SiteScope, BMC, RTView, etc. Understanding where and what to use to ensure applications/systems are well monitored/protected.

  • Experience with UML/ Use case methodology preferred

  • Experience with the following is an asset: Electronic Data Exchange (EDI), IBM WebSphere MQ,C++, Perl, SQR, Autosys, Talend ETL tools.
