About the division:

Small Building Systems is an innovative and fast-growing Line of Business part of EcoBuilding in Partner BU. It was created following the acquisition of Viconics and Can2Go between 2011-2013. SBS has 125 employees, mainly located in Montreal, with revenues growing double digits every year since the acquisitions.

SBS has successfully launched throughout NAM, EMEA and APAC its innovative line of Room controllers, its SmartStruxure Lite mini-BMS solution for small and medium sized buildings and wireless retrofit solutions as part of larger BMS installations. This business is fuelling the growth to launch a full cloud-based multi-site solution to allow large national retailers, banks, quick-serve restaurant and other similar organizations to take control over their entire portfolio with a single dashboard enabling significant operational cost-savings.

ROLE AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations specialist is called upon to develop solutions for configuration, deployment and operation management of cloud computing based solutions (as previously described). In this function, as part of a support team, you will:

  • Participate to continuous support of a 24/7 application base in clouds

  • Ensure the smooth operation of all production environments

  • Monitor the health of the system and propose improvement where they are needed

  • Collaborate with the Cloud Ops leader and R&D; team to manage and optimize the infrastructure

Act as the escalation contact to the various level of support and engineering team members when required.

  • Develop useful tools for the day to day operation

  • Find creative solutions to various networking, security or access problems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Graduate diploma in computer sciences, software engineering or equivalent;

  • Curious and passionate about DevOps or Operation with previous success in this field.

  • Expert in various scripting languages, capable of learning new ones quickly if necessary.

  • Expert in Linux, both as a user and as an administrator.

  • Expert in networking and infrastructure architecture.

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a system administrator

  • Expert knowledge with cloud computing such as AWS and Azure

  • Awareness in software security.

  • Ability to follow operational best practices

  • As a problem solver, you like to tackle difficult problems and are successful at it.

  • Autonomous, accountable and strive to "get the job done"

  • Able to work under pressure

  • Familiar with issues and code management tools like Jira, Stash, Bamboo, GIT…

  • Bilingual (French / English)
