Powell Industries, Inc. Senior Field Service Technician in Montreal, Quebec

The primary function of the Service Technician is to provide field service engineering and technical assistance to customers in the areas of installation, testing, start-up, maintenance, repair, training and modification of electrical power distribution equipment, controls and rotating apparatus for commercial, petrochemical, mining, water and waste water and power generation facilities. Individuals must be capable of self-managing assigned projects for electrical equipment, including a working knowledge of electrical test and diagnostic equipment. Equipment includes circuit breakers, switchgear, motor control centers, relays, meters, programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, transducers, contactors, ground-grid systems, switchboards, panel boards and various other electrical equipment. Candidate will deliver technical solutions to customers with a high degree of professionalism. Performs conventional less complex engineering assignments that may involve equipment or product design, testing of materials, preparation of specifications, process studies, or research investigations. Will evaluate electrical distribution systems in compliance with industry (NEC, ANSI, UL and CSA) standards. We need someone skilled, mature, bilingual, with solid business acumen, an impressive rolodex of end-user contacts in Eastern Canada and intent on delighting customers. This individual should also have an embedded desire to manage a service center with multiple technicians, in due course.

Job Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will be based out of Eastern Canada, preferably Quebec
  • Bi-lingual in both French and English considered an asset
  • Must be at least one of the three; Journeyman Electrician, Electrical Engineer, or Electrical Technologist
  • Ability to travel, sometimes on short notice
  • Previous sales or customer service skills preferred
