Job Overview

As an important part of the reliability engineering integration team, you will play a key role in the development and maintenance of the pressure equipment inspection program at Fort Hills. You will be responsible for ensuring that all engineering functions related to pressure equipment integrity are completed with consistency across all areas and representing operations during the development of the inspection program.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support integrity activities related to tanks and pipelines, including the development of inspection scopes, the execution of mitigation activities, and the interpretation of inspection results

  • Provide technical support for static mechanical equipment

  • Support the development of long term inspection strategies

  • Optimize the inspection program by supporting the inspection process, including data interpretation, inspection planning, and risk assessment completion

  • Contribute to monthly reporting activities for pressure equipment

  • Act as a responsible engineer or integrity assessment engineer as required

  • Support the equipment deferral process

  • Ensure new ABSA regulated equipment is incorporated into the integrity program

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Five years of experience with pressure equipment inspection; oil and gas industry experience is preferred

  • Experience working with time and risk based inspections and related software is an asset

  • Engineering degree in materials, metallurgy, or mechanical field from an accredited post-secondary institution

  • Professional Engineering designation from APEGA

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards related to pressure equipment

  • Strong knowledge of static mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, tanks, piping and pipeline systems, fired heaters, and heat exchangers

  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace, in order to understand not just what you do but why you do it

  • You do not take or tolerate shortcuts and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it

Working Conditions

  • This position is based in Calgary, Alberta with occasional travel to the Fort Hills mine site
