Job Introduction

This position is responsible for the implementation of the corporate environmental compliance program by conducting environmental inspections at facilities and providing technical support on environmental issues. Areas of responsibility will be primarily in Ontario and Michigan with potential to travel to the other US States as required.

Major Responsibilities
  • Conducting environmental compliance inspections and preparing inspection reports for more than 40 automotive manufacturing facilities located primarily in Ontario and Michigan
  • Reviewing third party environmental compliance audit reports
  • Preparing action plans for facilities based on conducted inspections and third party audits in a timely manner as well as monitoring facility action plan progress
  • Providing practical technical support to facilities, business unit groups and corporate personnel in meeting environmental compliance, customer initiatives and best management practices
  • Assisting with environmental training including development and delivery of material for front-line and managerial level employees
  • Assisting in monitoring regulation changes and providing technical support to divisions, business unit groups and corporate personnel on current applicable federal and state/provincial environmental regulations
Knowledge and Education
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Environmental Engineering, or directly related field
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in environmental activity in an industrial setting and/or consulting, preferably managing multiple locations
Skills and Competencies
  • Environmental compliance auditing experience
  • Environmental Professional designation, or eligibility preferred
  • Positive, pro-active, energetic and professional
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and works as a team player
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage and meet competing deadlines and priorities
Work Environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required
  • Willing and able to travel on a regular basis in Ontario and the US
