Finance Manager, Cost & Investment Analysis

The Canada Finance team is responsible for the planning, forecasting and analysis of the financial performance of Capital One’s Canada business, and is looking to grow in the area of cost management.

The person in this role will work with senior leaders and business managers across Capital One to perform financial support for all expenses to ensure the business can meet its long term efficiency goals.

The candidate will be primarily responsible for covering investments in Technology, Corporate Real Estate, as well as spending on Salaries & Benefits, Support Services, Risk Management, and Compliance.

Responsibilities:

Financial reporting & analysis:

The role will be primarily responsible for both local and US allocated expenses to the Canadian business, in particular with all people-based costs (headcount, salaries, contractors, benefits, T&E).

Relationship Management:

This role will manage interactions across Finance and with many groups across Capital One (Canada, US and UK). Adding value through expanded reporting and analysis while working partnering with the business to drive towards expense targets.

Planning & forecasting:

Leveraging business relationships and historical trends to drive short-term forecasts and longer-term budgets. Perform regular variance explanations from budget and forecast, aiming to improve accuracy of future projections.

Strategic Projects:

Lead key cost projects for Canada. Work with stakeholders to identify and drive efficiency opportunities for the business. Examples of projects would include benchmarking analytics, transfer pricing, Tableau reporting, business case development and tracking, process redesign and future acquisitions.

What you’re bringing to the table:

  • Confident and effective communicator with the ability to distill complex details into a simple, compelling story

  • Able to build clear presentations and deliver key messages to stakeholders and senior leaders

  • Effective at building buy-in at senior levels

  • Excellent Analytical skills and business acumen

  • Advanced MS Excel & PowerPoint user

  • Experience with Tableau reporting is an asset

  • Handles multiple tasks and manages priorities with a high level of autonomy

  • Works effectively both independently and as a member of a cross functional team

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • At least 5 years of experience in Financial Services

  • At least 5 years of experience in forecasting and analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree

  • 6+ years of experience in Financial Services

  • 6+ years of experience in forecasting and analysis
