POSITION SUMMARY The purpose or objective of the role. To communicate with the Prepress Manager on day-to-day issues and staffing requirements. Ensure all packaging technicians are kept informed of new polices and procedures. Provide digitally trapped files or film as per printer's specifications for litho and flexo printing while insuring all customers and printers specifications are met. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Work with Manager and CSR with day-to-day responsibilities in packaging prepress and proofing. Attend pre-production meetings with studio, client and/or printers Resolve issues on a daily basis determining the best way to proceed with workflow Work with studio, client and printers on daily basis regarding technical issues Receive PIR forms and review specifications and confirm for accuracy (print specs, trap specs, density, dot gain) Check spec sheet and tags for all specifications Pre-flight studio files for content evaluation Checking job specs, images and all requests Rebuilding and colour correction of studio files in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop for printing specifications Trapping all elements in Adobe Illustrator as required for final print Final assembly of files in Adobe Illustrator/Acrobat Pro for digital files, proofs or film as required Checking final files and proofs to ensure job is correct before being released to printer. Consult with printer on their process (i.e. digital vs conventional) Consult with studio on mechanical artwork Coordinate work for assembly and trapping based on complexity of work Review job with operators on specs and requirements Resolve any issues with pre-press technicians, studio, printer and/or client Create profiles and cutbacks to printer specifications Responsible for Quality Assurance of all work Upon approval notice, prepare release materials according to printer specification (step, place printer marks, create final files) Notification job is ready to be retrieved from FTP site Responsible for non-negotiable deadlines. QUALIFICATIONS The skills and knowledge required to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. Detail oriented, fast and accurate Excellent organizational skills Ability to multi task and work under pressure Team Player willing to be involved in all process improvements Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Knowledge of operation of Epson proofing system Expert knowledge in dot gain, distortions and press ready-trapped digital files and film for litho and flexo printing
