POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director, Global Compensation and Benefits, the Manager, Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards is responsible for overseeing the compensation, benefits, RRSP and corporate wellness programs in Canada. Working directly with the Centre of Excellence (COE), HRBP teams and external partners, this role helps design, develop and implement Total Rewards strategies and products. As a member of the HR lead team, the Manager, Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards provides leadership and direction in the implementation and sustainability of Total Rewards programs that contribute to an exceptional associate experience and retention strategy.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Comp & Ben:

Directs and coordinates all associate compensation and benefits policies and programs Leads the development, implementation, monitoring and review of targeted compensation programs and initiatives in order to compete with changing market conditions and trends Ensures programs and policies deliver internal job and pay equity among associates, conducts job evaluations, recommends salary structure placement in line with local market data, and prepares cost recommendations for market-based and merit/equity adjustments With the assistance of an external consulting firm, conducts Ontario and Quebec pay equity reviews Completes annual salary surveys through various partnerships and affiliations (such as Mercer, McDowall Associates, World@Work, ERI, etc.) Manages the annual bonus and incentive plans and eligibility, ensuring compliance within established parameters and timelines Works with the Director, Global Compensation and Benefits, to update the Canadian salary structures on an annual basis, to ensure our ranges are consistent with the market Collaborates with the Corporate Compensation & HRIS teams and the local Senior HR Business Partner on the annual merit cycle and personal compensation statements Provides leadership and consultation to the HR team and management on high-impact compensation issues; provides guidance regarding compensation practices, policies, interpretation, problem resolution and compliance with ABC internal regulations, provincial and federal laws Provides HR team members with guidance and coaching as required M&A activities, as required, related to harmonizing compensation, benefits and total rewards Oversees the Benefits & HR Specialist who is responsible for benefits and RRSP administration including managing active disability cases and mat leaves/personal leaves, invoicing, premium and bi-weekly taxable benefit deductions; and bi-weekly payroll inputs including timekeeping, benefit premiums, taxable benefits, RRSP contributions, one-time payments and ROE management. Health & Wellness:

Leads the Canadian Workplace Wellness Program, manages the annual budget, develops the annual calendar of events, co-chairs the Workplace Wellness Committee Presents event ideas, conducts research on potential vendors we can partner with, attends and participates in various internal events throughout the year Encourages associates to participate in our Wellness Program Coordinates vendor-led lunch and learns/webinars, including the preparation of corporate communications as needed Conducts associate feedback surveys and analyzes the results to ensure our program offerings suit our associates’ interests and wellness needs Attends external Wellness-related seminars (Mental Health in the Workplace, Nutrition, Exercise, EAP, etc.) Payroll:

Provides input into payroll including final payments for terminated associates, retro pay related to promotions/comp changes, compiles data for timekeeping purposes (new hires, terminations, leaves, etc.) Works with the Payroll Manager to reconcile taxable benefits and benefit premiums Works closely with the Payroll Manager to resolve payroll issues and identify root cause

Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

This role will appeal to a hands-on, high energy, results-driven, HR professional with a minimum of 7 years of relevant progressive compensation, benefits and/or total rewards experience.

A business degree and/or relevant HR professional certification Previous experience leading a shared service function and team Proficiency or knowledge of compensation and/or benefits Experience in Associate/Employee Relations Experience with M&As and asset Highly responsive with an ability to operate efficiently and effectively in fast paced, complex business environment Expertise with project and change management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle and process mapping Experience in continuous improvement initiatives Expert in MS Office skills (Word, Excel (vlookups, pivot tables), Outlook)
