We are currently looking to hire an In-Service Engineer (with experience in Aerospace, MRB experience and Aircraft in-service support experience) for one of our clients in the Aerospace/Landing Gear Industry, located in Oakville, ON. This is for approximately a 14 month contract with the possibility of extension.

Start date: December 5th, 2016

End date: February 2nd, 2018 (14 month contract)

Hours: 37.5 hours/week

Reporting to the Senior Project Lead, as the In-Service Engineer, you will be responsible for support of our proprietary landing gear structure and systems components on live Aircraft in a dynamic environment. You will provide repair designs and engineering instructions to address in-service issues both for equipment "on-wing" and "off-wing" in order to return those components to an airworthy state and allow a rapid return to service of regional and long range aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-service engineering support to MRO shops (GRE repairs).

  • Provide technical support for on wing repairs (ISQ/SCR support).

  • Provide engineering and technical support for customer interface activities (TSC & CWG meetings).

  • Provide engineering support to Product Support, including development of technical manuals & tasks

  • Coordinate in-service communications between UTAS, Customer and airline technical teams

  • Coordinate engineering support activities with design engineering, program management, Quality & production as required, to resolve in-service issues and manage fleet impacts.

  • Resolve day-to-day in-service problems.

  • Support product improvements through participation in change development activity.

  • Provide on-site support to resolve "in-service" issues at the flight test aircraft as/if required.

  • Lead / participate in investigations for warranty components removed from in-service aircraft.

  • Perform engineering investigations into components that were damaged or failed in-service and participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations.

  • Liaise with design engineering group to provide in-service engineering perspectives for proposed design changes.

  • Manage in-service problem resolution from initial problem report to change incorporation in the fleet.

  • Provide off hours (24/7) engineering support on a rotating basis for all landing gear proprietary programs

  • Follow good Engineering practices and analysis methodology

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Willingness to travel on short notice

Pre-Qualification Questions:

1. Do you have at least 3 years of experience in an aerospace engineering environment?

2. Do you have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering?

3. Can you be on-call 24-7, on a rotating basis for 1-2 weeks per month and be able to travel on short notice?

4. Do you have Aerospace experience? If yes, which Companies was this at?

Basic Qualifications Required (MUST HAVE's)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • 3+ years' related experience in an aerospace engineering environment. Associated MRB experience is desirable.

  • Aircraft in-service support experience (engineering function) preferred.

  • Landing gear & related systems experience for support of various aircraft types in-service preferred.

  • Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated understanding of computing tools and programs including the use of Microsoft Office.

  • Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.

  • Good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a PDM system.
