Position Responsibilities (key duties, scope of position, goals, expectations, skill requirements, and travel requirements):

Under the general direction of the SVP, Dufferin Construction, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring terms and prices are consistent with acceptable quality and delivery in the purchase and rental of materials, supplies and equipment for all of the Company operations.

  • Support OneCRH vertical integration model by integrating CRH product lines on Dufferin Construction jobs.

  • Supervise the activities of the Procurement staff.

  • Supervise and maintain material unit pricing in Bid2Win software.

  • Manage and review procurement department budget on a monthly basis and conduct annual forecasting.

  • Ensure that the procurement department follows all procedures and policies with regards to SOX and vendor compliance.

  • Facilities management for the Oakville Head Office location, including and not limited to building and grounds maintenance, utilities, security, space management and vending.

  • Understand Occupational Health and Safety standards, performance objectives & targets.

  • Comply with applicable company policies and legislation/regulations to create a safe work environment.

  • Keep abreast of economic, business, material, supply and labour trends affecting purchasing policies and recommend changes to ensure the non-interruption of goods and services.

  • Act as a change management leader with regards to changes in purchasing company perimeters.

  • Prepare procurement procedures/processes and ensure all required staff are notified and provide support as required.

  • Assist estimating department in the selection and subsequent evaluation of subcontractors and material vendors for bidding purposes.

  • Provide overall support and knowledge to new operations staff with regards to vendors and materials supply.

  • Keep the Marketing and Operations Departments informed of any significant developments in the supply and/or pricing of materials and services.

  • Facilitate changes/updates to subcontractors’ addresses and contact information in Viewpoint (Enterprise Resource Planning Software).

  • Act as a Vendor Relationship Manager with regards to assisting in vendor payments, account statements and overdue balances.

  • Monitor and evaluate vendor and supplier performance policies and procedures.

  • On a regular basis, review major material supplier price lists to make certain the Company is receiving the fair market price.

  • Report procurement benefits, cost saving and preferred vendor agreements.

  • Build and develop a strong procurement team.

  • Minimal travel may be required in the GTA.

Experience & Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business, Civil Engineering or Supply Chain Management.

  • Minimum 5 years of related construction experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.) designation or working towards is an asset.

  • Demonstrate strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.

  • Viewpoint or comparable procurement Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP) experience.
