Telus M2M/IoT Device Development and Performance Engineer in ON, Canada

Responsibilities:

As an IoT Device Engineer, you will take on many exciting roles:

TELUS Ambassador:Represent TELUS in device technology standards and certification bodies and liaise with M2M/IoT device OEMs and chipset providers to gather technology insights and aligns their roadmaps with TELUS’ requirements

Subject Matter Expert:Implement and audit the compliance/certification program for M2M/IoT devices and develop regulatory, functional, interoperability and performance requirements for TELUS M2M/IoT devices, with focus on emerging Low-Power Wide-Area Network technologies such LTE-M Cat M1 and NB1

Storyteller: Present consolidated device technology roadmaps to internal and external stakeholders

Leader:Lead device technology introduction projects and monitor and benchmark the performance of M2M/IoT devices on Telus Network

Talented Techie: Participate in technical design, architecture discussions and support other development and testing SMEs

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Connected Device platforms, M2M service delivery platforms and M2M application development platforms and IoT technology landscape

  • Knowledge of WWAN connected device approval and certification requirements: GCF, PTCRB, IC/FCC, etc

  • Knowledge of Embedded SIM (eSIM) technology and value chain

  • Understanding of mobile device security principles and best practices

  • Understanding of project and program management techniques and best practices

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of product development and lifecycle management

  • Understanding of contract negotiations for contracting and consulting services

  • Ability to develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and contacts

  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous environment

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline

  • Master’s degree in engineering or business or equivalent experience

  • Project Management certification would be an asset

Required Experience:

  • Recommended minimum 10 years of progressive engineering and design leadership, preferably experience in leading and managing technical teams

  • Experience in the domain of M2M/IoT solution development, wireless device technology development and experience working with M2M Industry Standards such as ETSI, GSMA, oneM2M, TIA MSTF etc

  • Experience working with LTE/HSPA/WiFi wireless network technology, including voice, messaging and data services as well as enablers such as real-time rating and policy
