Telus Senior Marketing Communications Manager - Koodo in ON, Canada

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving awareness of Koodo’s rate plan prices, device offering, and new product enhancements. Leveraging the various mediums at our disposal – from point of sale merchandise, to digital advertisements and traditional mediums such as radio and print - the successful candidate will lead the creation and placement (both paid media and Koodo-owned properties) of advertisements to most effectively drive people to purchase. Working closely with internal pricing and marketing teams, as well as external creative and media agencies, the candidate must be able to handle changing deadlines and priorities in the fast-paced wireless industry. The candidate will also be a key player in determining messaging priorities for various channels (web, retail and Koodo Shops), as well as act as an inbound request prime for the creation of any marketing communication materials needed from various internal stakeholders.


This role will focus on driving awareness of Koodo’s rate plans and device prices. The Senior Marketing Communications Manager will work with internal Koodo Marketing teams, our creative agency and media agency to:

  • Lead the development of assets for device sales, rate plan promos or product enhancements, including digital advertisements, radio, print and point-of-sale elements by coordinating and prioritizing with our advertising agency

  • Prime media plan for any sale or product enhancements, working with our media agency to ensure we’re alerting prospective customers effectively through the most appropriate channels and within defined budget

  • Ensure the right creative is developed for the media plan, and the right media plan selected for the business purposes by ensuring alignment between media and creative agencies

  • Work closely with marketing and legal teams to ensure regional nuances and conditions are well reflected in all advertisements and that all offer start and end dates are respected; ensure we have sufficient contingencies for pricing changes throughout the sales period

  • Produce point-of-sale support for all pricing activities, including the creation and maintenance of posters, brochures/printable PDFs, and any other support needed by sales reps; ensure proper distribution and removal of assets depending on start/end dates of campaign

  • Ensure alignment between Marketing Communications and other marketing teams with respect to which prices and products we will promote in various mediums at our disposal

  • Drive alignment with internal marketing teams on prioritization of key messages and new opportunities for each Channel (Web, Retailers, Koodo Shops)

  • Prime the fulfilment of inbound requests to the Marketing Communications team for support that other teams require – approval and creation of market-facing communications for prepaid, channels, and the customer experience teams

  • Lead any new methods of promoting sales to prospective customers

  • Be comfortable in reviewing results from previous campaigns to ensure we’re always learning and improving over previous campaigns

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

  • Post-secondary undergraduate degree in business, marketing, communications, or equivalent combination of experience and education

Required Experience:

  • 5 years progressive experience in marketing, product management or communications/advertising desired

  • Familiarity with telecomm/wireless industry or other technology company preferred but not required

  • Strong track record in maintaining best in class brand standards
