Telus Senior Network Administrator (TELUS Health & Payment Solutions) in ON, Canada

As a Network Specialist/Administrator in our Thornhill office, you will be part of a team responsible for all network infrastructure for TELUS Health and Payment Solutions' (THPS) services. You will have an opportunity to perform technical implementation based on requests from internal and external customers following TELUS Change Management processes and change windows. This is role is one that provides 24x7 support in a rotation schedule basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors and etc to provide technical assistance and support

  • Maintaining network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance

  • Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives

  • Monitoring and patching of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services

  • Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services

  • 24x7 on call for network implementation and support

  • Network inventory management (hardware, software, and circuit inventory)

  • Responsible for network cable management (cabinets, racks)

  • To Take ownership of network or related issues (as part of a team) and works with 3rd Parties, Network Analyst(s), Network Manager and where appropriate the Network Manager to determine a strategic Approach to resolution

  • Provide recommendation to the architecture team based on analysis of the project and business requirement

  • Performs other duties as advised by the Network Manager

Required Knowledge:

  • Mandatory intermediate to advance knowledge and sufficient experience in network and system clustering in a multi-tiered, high transaction volume environment is considered an asset

  • Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft VISO and other Microsoft office products

  • Mandatory intermediate to advance knowledge and experience in network infrastructure in both dedicated and shared infrastructure using multiple key manufacture technologies: Cisco, Nortel, IBM (ISS), Checkpoint, Nokia, F5, Motorola, and Hypercom (i.e. routers, switches, gateway, firewalls, IDS, load balancer, multiplexers, and sniffer protocol analyzer)

  • Some Intermediate experience in various telecom facilities in both voices and data: LANX, MPLS, Frame Relay, Datapac, ISDN, DSL, Wireless, ATM, voice T1, etc

  • Must be able to perform multiple, technical, complex tasks without need to regularly upgrade skills to meet dynamic job conditions

  • Review and interpret complex technical information and analyze situations to define issues, draw conclusions and suggest a final solution

  • Must be able to schedule activities and meetings; gather and collate data; with minimal assistance

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in technical architecture design (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, protocol flows) and hands-on experience with middleware server components (e.g., Sun and HP Compaq)

  • Intermediate working knowledge of each vendor underlying operating system(not only knowledge of GUI)

  • Good in communication (both oral and written) and organizational skills; good technical writing skills with emphasis on conveying technical information to non-technical audiences

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience in security products/tools such as IPS, UTM, Firewalls and VPN technologies

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to implement, manage, maintain and troubleshoot the following: (Cisco switches, Cisco routers, Checkpoint Firewalls, Fortigate Firewalls, Juniper firewalls, F5 LTM, Solarwinds)

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

  • Checkpoint

  • CCSE

  • CCSA

  • F5 LTM, ASM

  • Fortigate firewall

  • ITIL

  • CCNA (Switching)

Required Experience:

  • 8 years of equivalent experience or University Degree
