BMO Financial Group Account Specialist - Repossession Collector in Ontario, Canada


Support all BMO Collection Centres in the management of the business relationship process with the Repossession of BMO products, specifically Conditional Sales Contracts and/or Chattel Mortgages for BMO Financial Group. Resolve delinquency in a professional and tactful manner. Identify, monitor, recommend and execute action on non-performing accounts. Must balance financial risks/rewards to Bank while working with and meeting the needs of the customer. Objective is to minimize loss and/or maximize return on investment through prompt and appropriate loss mitigation. Utilize strong negotiation skills and interpersonal skills, while adhering to all applicable guidelines, requirements and regulations. Maintain contact and follow-through to ensure appropriate resolution.

  • Working understanding of Consumer Collections and relevant function areas, including regulatory and consumer guidelines

  • Understand and achieve the prescribe defined targets within the role to effectively resolve delinquent accounts

  • Strong portfolio management skills

  • Resolve all incoming customer/client calls, both internal and external queries

  • Use sound judgment and exemplary negotiation skills

  • Attention to detail while documenting all call activity and conversations on respective systems

  • Lead/participate in project and team meetings with other departments as appropriate

  • Working knowledge of federal, state/provincial and local laws pertaining to Consumer Collections and functional areas

  • Strong knowledge of provincial PPSA legislations,Repair and Storage Liens Act(RLSA), and legal remedies

  • In depth BMO Product Knowledge, specific to CSC and Chattel Mortgages

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 3-5 years of Collections experience in lieu of degree

Full-time - Candidates must be available from Monday to Friday between 8am-8pm and weekends if required.
