BMO Financial Group Commercial Program Effectiveness Specialist in Ontario, Canada


The Commercial Program Effectiveness Specialist (Sr. Learning Consultant) consults and partners with the business to deliver and program manage effective learning solutions. This role supports the Senior Manager and/or Senior Learning Consultant in assessing business learning requirements and proposes learning solutions that optimally fit and deliver business outcomes. The Learning Consultant will focus on supporting the team (e.g., Senior Learning Consultant /Senior Manager) on medium and long-term strategic goals through the delivery of innovative learning strategies and programs. Depending on the demand across the group, there will be expectations in this role to support or manage multiple curriculums for various roles/audiences using a wide range of learning methods. The Learning Consultant will use a business/line perspective to help provide an ongoing analysis of existing training requirements, materials, curriculum and delivery to identify and mitigate gaps for all commercial sales, support and service roles by recommending and leading projects to enhance core sales and service skills and processes across the Commercial workforces.


  • Contribute to learning programs’ redesign (e.g., Commercial Account Manager and Commercial Advisor development programs)

  • Help to develop strategy for in-community experience versus instructor-led or self-study learning

  • Support and manage projects as part of a team or sole contributor for performance

  • Motivate project team – if applicable to achieve individual, client and enterprise goals

  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to project / team members

  • Analyze business requirements, as appropriate, to support operational changes impacting Commercial employees to identify and develop the necessary learning content or performance support tools (e.g. job aides, scripting, presentations on demand, slides) that will ensure an effective and efficient adoption of operational or strategic changes impacting the Commercial workforce, allowing us to reach key targets (e.g., loyalty, revenue); ensure existing courses, learning documents or development programs impacted by the change are updated for currency, if required.

  • Understand the industry and organizational environment to ensure that all programs, tools and technology comply with regulatory and legal requirements.

  • Consult on the effective integration of technology & support tools, review proposed new technology and/or changes to existing applications to ensure they enable better quality customer conversations and an enhanced employee experience through analysis of business requirements and sales and service processes.

  • Collaborate with partners to forecast and schedule learning programs delivery


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Commercial line of business credit, sales process, product knowledge, and technology proficiency (e.g. Commercial Connect) experience an asset

  • Sales and service experience

  • Understanding of adult learning principles to ensure retention and application of learning on role

  • Capable of assessing learner requirements, and identifying the business requirements for closing skill gaps and effectively communicating these to instructional designers

  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively and work closely and collaboratively with colleagues, learners, vendors, facilitators, subject matter experts and commercial managers and employees

  • Continuously live and demonstrate our values in action

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve issues and recommend solutions to Senior Leaders
