The Commercial Mortgage Analyst is mandated to assist in the design and implementation of processes to centralize portfolio management tasks related to the administration of Income Property Loans within Real Estate Finance’s Investor Owned loan portfolio, and Letters of Credit within Real Estate Finance’s Builder Developer loan portfolio. In this capacity the role will assist in the performance of annual reviews and renewals of Real Estate Finance Income Property Loans and Letters of Credit. These duties are expected to expand over time as the scope of mortgage centralization expands to include underwriting support for new Real Estate Finance Income Property Loans, and other portfolio management and monitoring functions, with a view to decreasing the administrative workload and increasing the origination capacity of Real Estate Finance Account Managers.

The Commercial Mortgage Analyst will also provide general analytic and portfolio management support relating to the administration of Real Estate Finance’s loan portfolio.

ACCOUNTABILITES

Portfolio Management Support

  • Perform annual reviews and renewals of Income Property Loans and Letters of Credit managed by Real Estate Finance. Loans to be reviewed may include such facilities as commercial mortgages, fixed rate term loans, demand loans, and cash secured letters of credit.

  • Assist in the design and implementation of processes to centralize portfolio management functions currently performed in Real Estate Finance regional offices.

General

  • Leverage technology and analytic tools to ensure the optimal effectiveness of centralized portfolio management functions.

  • Demonstrate proficient computer literacy and spreadsheet modeling skills, communication skills (both written and oral), time management and organizational skills.

  • Engage the support and assistance of business partners including Credit, GFS, Policy, CFD National Office, and Mortgage Operations.

  • Perform portfolio analysis and reporting as required, and develop business systems as necessary.

  • Develop commercial real estate market expertise with all national markets and real estate asset classes through the regular collection and analysis of market information.

  • Develop relationships with external business partners across the commercial mortgage and commercial real estate industries, to assist with collecting market information and developing subject matter expertise.

Project Support

  • Assist the Managing Director Commercial Mortgages and Commercial Mortgage Underwriter as required to facilitate the achievement of new initiatives, project deliverables and overall objectives.

Risk & Compliance

  • Support the development and documentation of regulatory and compliance attestations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

SKILLED KNOWLEDGE AND ROLE REQUIREMENTS :

  • 3-5 years commercial experience

  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.

  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools including MS Excel, other Microsoft Office Products and the Internet

  • Highly skilled in building financial models

  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment.

  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and timelines

  • Excellent capability to independently function as part of a team through self-motivation.

  • Ability to interact effectively with customers; internally and externally

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • An graduate degree/CA/CGA/CFA or comparable with outstanding academic achievement

  • A strong working knowledge of finance, accounting, economics

  • In-depth understanding of commercial products, commercial loan documentation, commercial lending and supporting processes.
