We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Pipe-Fitter with our Manufacturing Facility/Chemical Plant located in Niagara Falls, Ontario. POSITION SUMMARY To provide pipe-fitting services to ensure preventative maintenance, maintenance and repair of various mechanical machines, equipment and operations in a safe and efficient manner. Under general supervision lays out, fabricates, installs, and maintains all types of equipment through pipe-fitting. Works safely with respect to health, safety and environmental requirements including following all safety rules. Maintains protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority. Understands HSE policies and programs and works safely, with respect to health and environmental requirements. Pipefitter Duties: Repairs and maintains all process piping, valves and heaters. Troubleshoots and repairs piping, valves and heating problems and repetitive breakdowns to minimize failures. Lays out and performs all process piping for replacing existing piping sections with selection and ordering of materials to complete this work. Maintains files and blueprints on all equipment. Responsible for testing fire systems, flow switches and alarms. Removes and replaces pressure relief valves. Enters boilers and performs repairs.
Successful completion of a Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) in Pipe-Fitting trades.
Multi-skilled is preferred; in the absence of a second trade we will assist the successful candidate to obtain the second trade.
Knowledgeable in Pipe-Fitting and Millwright work. Must have a strong working knowledge and experience in the repair and maintenance of various types of mechanical equipment.
Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, TSSA and related regulations.
Valid driver’s license required.
Acquired relevant hands on related work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Must be able to read process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical drawings and follow mechanical specifications.
Required to work overtime, weekends, holidays and call-in as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant.
Ability to read, speak, and write English.
High proficiency in Microsoft applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including climbing ladders and stairs, walking, bending and stooping. Must have good manual dexterity and experience using industrial hand tools and power tools. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator and able to respond to visual and audible alarms. Must be able to work in confined spaces, work at heights and work from platforms.
